Mentored Work Project for Indigenous Youth

Corporate Communications

This program provides online training for indigenous youth living in remote areas in corporate communications techniques and technologies.

Through this program, youth are trained to work for a business or for themselves as a communications provider or entrepreneur.  The training features basic skills in marketing, promotion, publicity, public relations, media (including social) and business presentations.  Trainees learn the key elements to successful communication, key life skills for young communicators, Internet use, the tools and introductory techniques of production as well as tips on finding work in this profession including entrepreneurship.

This is one of the hottest job professions for all companies and businesses in today’s marketplace and these skills can be taken from job to job so they are applicable almost anywhere.

It is also the practice of this program to have trainees utilize their new-found or improved communication skills in their community.  Trainees will be asked to create communication services of importance to the community in which they live as part of their training.

To date, this Mentored Work Program has been provided to a variety of youth on the following reserves in Canada:

Cross Lake,  White Bear, Pinaymootang, Muscowpetang, Skownan, Pikangikum, Cote, Pheasant Rump, Cowessess.
